The Atypical Family

The Atypical Family follows the story of a man who used to have a supernatural ability. Bok Gwi-joo (Jang Ki-yong) could once travel through time, but now depression has taken away his power. His whole family faces similar struggles with their abilities fading. When he meets the mysterious woman Do Da-hae (Chun Woo-hee), his life – and his family’s unique dynamic – takes an unexpected turn.

Helmed by award-winning director Jo Hyun-tak of the hit drama Sky Castle, the fantasy romance series is confirmed to premiere on May 4, 2024, on JTBC. It will air every Saturday and Sunday, a time slot currently occupied by the Lee Boo-young starrer Hide.

Jang Ki-yong as Bok Gwi-joo, a man who lost his psychic power due to depression. His unique ability allowed him to revisit happy moments in his past, but with those memories fading and his power gone, he finds himself adrift. His life takes an unexpected turn when the enigmatic Do Da-hae enters his life.

Chun Woo-hee as Do Da-hae, a mysterious woman who appears before a family burdened by lost supernatural abilities. Seeking a fresh challenge, she becomes entangled with Bok Gwi-joo, a man battling depression, and his family, who struggle with ailments as modern as insomnia and smartphone addiction. In a move that seems almost fateful, Do Da-hae begins living with the Bok family.

Go Doo-shim as Bok Man-heum, the matriarch of the Bok family. Her strength and resilience once anchored the household, but her ability to see the future through her dreams has been lost to insomnia.

Claudia Kim as Bok Dong-hee, Bok Gwi-joo’s sister, who can no longer fly due to bulimia.

Park So-yi as Bok Yi-na, Bok Gwi-joo’s daughter.

Oh Man-seok as Eom Soon-ku, a devoted father figure who diligently cares for the family despite being the only member without a supernatural ability.
