Adapted from an acclaimed novel, Lies Hidden in My Garden is a suspense thriller about the intertwined lives of two women. Moon Joo-ran (Kim Tae-hee), a woman leading a seemingly perfect life, and Chu Sang-eun (Lim Ji-yeon), a pregnant woman enduring domestic violence, are brought together by a chilling discovery. When Joo-ran notices a disturbing stench from her backyard, her life veers into the unexpected. Meanwhile, Sang-eun is thrown into turmoil with the news of her husband’s death. As their paths converge, they find themselves ensnared in a suspenseful quest to unravel the truth behind the smell and the perfect façade of Joo-ran’s life.

  • “Lies Hidden in My Garden” is an eight-part original suspense thriller series of IPTV service and cable channel Genie TV. In addition to being broadcast on another cable channel, ENA, new episodes of the series will also be available on global streaming platforms such as Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Hulu Japan, iQIYI, and Rakuten Viki. The series pre-sold its distribution rights to 190 countries before its premiere.
  • The drama is directed by Jung Ji-hyun, who previously helmed the hit coming-of-age series “Twenty Five Twenty One.” The director focused on visual storytelling, given the minimal dialogue in the script. He conveyed the characters’ psychological states and emotions through various camera angles, symbolic props, and facial expressions.
  • It is based on a novel titled “A House with A Yard” (literal translation) by Kim Jin-young.
  • Lim Ji-yeon, who plays a pregnant victim of domestic violence, is known for her award-winning performance in the hit Netflix series “The Glory” (2022-2023). However, her character is a departure from her previous role in “The Glory.”
  • Lim was so drawn to her character that she didn’t feel pressure to show a different side of herself as an actress. She even read the original novel to understand her character better.
  • The series is a significant return to television for Kim Tae-hee, who last appeared in the 2020 fantasy drama “Hi Bye, Mama!” She appreciated the thrilling storyline, believing it will satisfy fans of suspense and thriller.
