Lee Min-ho, Gong Hyo-jin confirmed as leads of new drama ‘Ask the Stars’

Lee Min-ho and Gong Hyo-jin have officially confirmed their lead roles in the new drama “Ask the Stars,” Xportsnews reported Monday.

“Ask the Stars” is described as a “space romantic comedy” about an astronaut and a space tourist who have crossed paths with each other in a space station. It is set to become the second Korean drama whose story takes place in outer space, following Netflix’s “The Silent Sea.”

The upcoming drama is written by Seo Sook-hyang (“Wok of Love”) and will be directed by Park Shin-woo (“It’s Okay to Not Be Okay”). Seo and Park previously worked together with Gong Hyo-jin in the 2016 romantic comedy “Jealousy Incarnate.”

Lee Min-ho will play Gong Ryong, an obstetrician who arrives at the space station as a tourist. There, he meets Gong Hyo-jin’s character, a Korean-American astronaut named Yves Kim.

Lee Min-ho is starring in the ongoing American TV series “Pachinko” that stream exclusively on Apple TV+. The popular actor was last seen playing a major K-drama role in “The King: Eternal Monarch.”

Meanwhile, Gong Hyo-jin’s most recent series was the critically-acclaimed “When the Camellia Blooms,” which took home the grand prize and three other awards at the prestigious Baeksang Arts Awards in 2020.

“Ask the Stars” is scheduled to start filming in April and aims to be released simultaneously on a local TV network and a global streaming service in 2023.
