Once Upon a Boyhood

Once Upon a Boyhood is a teen comedy drama set against the backdrop of post-1988 Summer Olympics South Korea. It follows Jang Byeong-tae (Im Si-wan), a high schooler who suffers from bullying at school. His life takes an unexpected turn when his father’s illegal dance studio gets exposed and he is forced to transfer to a new school in a nearby city. There, he’s mistaken for the city’s best fighter and becomes popular overnight. The series evokes feelings of nostalgia as it depicts the daily lives of agricultural high school students in the Chungcheong Province.

The series is helmed by Lee Myung-woo, who previously directed “The Fiery Priest,” “Backstreet Rookie,” and the Coupang Play web drama “One Ordinary Day.” It premiered on November 24, 2023 on Coupang Play.
