Lee Se-young has been confirmed to star in the new MBC drama “Park’s Contract Marriage Story.”

Based on a webtoon of the same name, the series tells the story of a 19th-century Joseon woman named Park Yeon-woo who travels to the future after being thrown into a well. She then finds herself in modern Korea and meets Kang Tae-ha, a man who resembles her husband who died on the first night of their wedding. She ends up entering into a contract marriage with him as she navigates the unfamiliar world and finds a way to return to Joseon but when their relationship grows deeper, everything begins to change.

Lee Se-young will portray the character of Park opposite actor Bae In-hyuk, who was previously confirmed to star in the series as Kang Tae-ha. Viewers last saw her in “The Law Cafe” (2022) and “The Red Sleeve,” which was among the highest-rated Korean dramas in 2021.

Meanwhile, rookie actor Bae In-hyuk appeared in three dramas last year, namely “Under The Queen’s Umbrella,” “Cheer Up,” and “Why Her?.”

The drama’s production team said that Lee Se-young is “more suitable than anyone else” to play the main character and asked viewers to look forward to her acting transformation.

“Park’s Contract Marriage Story” is helmed by Park Sang-hoon, who previously directed “My Secret, Terrius” (2018) and “Radiant Office” (2017), and written by Go Nam-jung. It is scheduled to air on MBC’s Friday-Saturday timeslot in the second half of 2023.
