An estimated 2.359 million viewers nationwide watched the 18th episode of “Alchemy of Souls,” data from Nielsen show.
This figure, which is 30% higher compared to the previous episode, is now the best record of the series, making it the fourth most watched primetime drama this year to date in terms of viewers.
“Alchemy of Souls” is the 10th 2022 Korean drama on primetime to surpass 2 million viewers. (See 2022 Kdrama viewership charts)
In terms of ratings, the fantasy series also logged a record-high 9.295% on Sunday, which is a significant jump from the 7.566% it recorded in the previous night.
The drama has just resumed airing new episodes this week after a one-week break from August 7 to 14. It will air its last two episodes on August 27 and 28.
“Alchemy of Souls” consistently recorded above 5% viewership in the first half of its run but struggled to hit the 7% mark until episode 12. It has become the no. 1 weekend drama on primetime since its premiere but its ratings pale in comparison with that of “Extraordinary Attorney Woo,” a weekday legal series that peaked at 17.534%.
Meanwhile, the two other Saturday-Sunday dramas also soared to their highest ratings yet on August 21. “The Good Detective 2” and “It’s Beautiful Now” logged 6.995% and 28.8%, respectively.
