‘Taxi Driver 2’ finale surpasses viewership record of season 1

“Taxi Driver 2” concluded its 16-episode run Saturday night with a nationwide rating of 21.0% that translates to an estimated four million viewers based on data from Nielsen.

These numbers beat the similarly impressive viewership achieved by the first season in 2021—a peak rating of 16.0% and highest viewer count of 3.1 million. In terms of average nationwide rating, “Taxi Driver 2” (15.0%) also surpassed the first season (12.5%). Both aired every Friday and Saturday on SBS.

The first season placed fourth in the ranking of the highest rated Korean dramas in 2021 while “Taxi Driver 2” is now the highest-rated primetime Korean drama in free-to-air TV so far this year.

Overall, “Taxi Driver 2” ranks no. 2 in terms of most viewers in a single episode, second only to the 4.3 million achieved by the tvN series “Crash Course in Romance” last March.

The series tells the story of a deluxe taxi driver, played by Lee Je-hoon, who avenges the wrongful acts committed to passengers in dire need of help. Also starring in the show are Kim Eui-sung, Pyo Ye-jin, Jang Hyuk-jin, and Bae Yoo-ram.

Meanwhile, “Taxi Driver 2” was the overall no.1 drama and TV program on April 15, 2023, even surpassing the 18.3% rating of the KBS2 weekend series “The Real Has Come.”

In cable TV, tvN’s “Pandora: Beneath the Paradise” recorded a nationwide rating of 3.2% while JTBC’s newest drama “Doctor Cha” logged 4.9% for its first episode.
