Bona to star in TVING original series ‘Pyramid Game’

Singer-turned actress Kim Ji-yeon, also known as Bona from the K-pop group WJSN, is confirmed to be part of the upcoming TVING original series “Pyramid Game.”

Her agency, King Kong by Starship, announced on June 1st, “Kim Ji-yeon will be appearing in the TVING original series ‘Pyramid Game’. We ask for your continued support and anticipation for Kim Ji-yeon’s future endeavors.”

“Pyramid Game” is a thriller drama that centers on a high school girl who must become the game’s sniper to escape ostracization in Class 2-5 of Baekyeon High School, where monthly votes assign each student a grade and those rated ‘F’ become legal victims of school violence.

The series, based on the eponymous webtoon acclaimed for its meticulous description and captivating storyline, has garnered considerable attention. It will be directed by Park So-yeon and written by Choi Soo-i.

In the drama, Bona will play Sung Soo-ji, a second-year student who transfers to Baekyeon High School. Soo-ji is characterized as a person with excellent social skills and an assertive personality. However, as soon as she arrives in her new school, she gets entangled in the pyramid game, becoming a victim of school violence and leading a rebellion as she navigates her way out of the awful situation.

Bona has continuously demonstrated her transformation since she made her acting debut in 2017. She has portrayed a variety of young faces, including high school students and interns, and received much love for her role as the fencer Go Yu-rim in “Twenty-Five Twenty-One” (2022).

She made her first historical drama appearance in the recently concluded “Joseon Attorney,” where she portrayed a princess of Joseon opposite actor Woo Do-hwan.
